1. Getting started

Open the app and create an account with an email address and password, or continue with Google. You can show the password while typing if you want to check it.

The first person to sign up creates the household and becomes its owner. When you create the household you pick its currency — used whenever an item has a cost. It starts from your device's region and you can change it later. Everyone else joins with the family code shown on the Family page: they sign up, then enter that code.

3. Adding something to the board

• What it is — the title the whole family sees, e.g. “Solar system model”.
• Type — school project, excursion, lesson, activity or house chore.
• Due date — when it actually has to be done.
• Heads-up window — how many days before the due date the board should start warning you. Two to three weeks suits a project; two days suits a packed lunch.
• Who it's for — which child, so the right person's name appears on the card.
• Cost — optional. What it's expected to cost, so money to set aside is visible early (see below).
• Prep steps — break it into small jobs. Ready-made checklists cover science, maths, English, history, art, excursions, sport and music.

Every card has an I've seen this button. That's what stops the escalation — it tells the household that an adult has the item in hand.

Scan a note instead of typing. When you add something, tap Scan a note or paste a message at the top of the form. Photograph a school slip, or paste a newsletter or a message, and the app reads it and fills in the title, date, heads-up window, prep steps and cost for you. Nothing is saved until you've checked it and tapped save. (Available when your household has this feature switched on.)

4. Costs and currency

Your household has one currency, chosen when it's created and changeable any time on the Family page (owner, parent or co-parent). Whenever an item has a cost, the board shows it formatted in that currency.

• Nothing is converted. An amount is stored and shown exactly as you entered it — the app never applies an exchange rate.
• A single item can use a different currency. When you enter a cost, a small currency picker appears; leave it on the household currency, or switch it for that one item (useful for a trip abroad, or a class run from another country).
• Totals stay honest. Where the app adds costs up, it groups them by currency and shows a subtotal for each — e.g. R450.00 + AED 60.00 — rather than inventing one combined number.

Changing the household currency only changes how future and unlabelled amounts are shown; any item you've pinned to a specific currency keeps it.

5. Reminders — how the nudging works

The board is checked every hour, in your household's own time zone.

• Entering the heads-up window — first nudge, while there's still time to buy or prepare.
• The day before — second nudge.
• On the day — final nudge.
• Nobody confirmed — if no one has tapped “I've seen this” as the deadline nears, the reminder escalates to every parent, co-parent and caregiver.

Set it up in Account & settings → Reminders:

• Notifications on this device — turn the switch on once per phone, tablet or computer.
• Time zone — if your device and the household disagree, tap the button to align them, otherwise the daily summary arrives at the wrong hour.
• Daily email summary — one email listing everything coming up; choose the hour it arrives.
• Escalate when nobody responds — start with the person it's assigned to, then tell every adult.
• Send me a test reminder — confirms this device is registered. The line underneath shows how many devices are registered, whether email is ready, and when the last reminder went out.

If a test says the device isn't registered, switch notifications off and on again — browsers sometimes drop the registration.

6. For teachers

A teacher doesn't need their school to sign up. Open the Teaching page and create a class:

• Grade or class name (required), your name, and the school name if you want it shown.
• Add the subjects you teach to that class.
• Each class gets a short class code. Share it with families — on a slip, in a group chat, or at a parents' evening.
• Post work: what it is, what they need, the due date, and how many days ahead families should be warned.

Every family following the class gets that post on their board immediately, with the lead time already applied. Being a teacher and a parent on the same account is fine — the Teaching page and your family board are separate, and sharing your class code never exposes your family.

7. For families following teachers

• Go to Your classes, enter the class code, and choose which child it belongs to.
• Four children in four different classes means four codes — add them all; each card shows the child's name.
• Teacher posts appear under “From your teachers” and can be pulled onto the board as items with prep steps.

8. Messages

Families and teachers can message each other inside the app instead of chasing paper slips. Choose the class, optionally the child and the subject, add a subject line and your message, and reply in a thread. Only that family and that teacher can see the conversation.

9. Privacy, control and devices

• Your household only ever sees its own board; teachers only see the families following their classes.
• Everything is protected per household at the database level — not just hidden in the interface.
• You can rename the household, change your display name, and delete your account and its data from Account & settings.
• The app works in any modern browser and can be installed to a phone or tablet home screen; light and dark mode included.
• Advanced: the app can be connected to AI assistants that support agent tools, so you can ask an assistant what's coming up or add an item by voice.
